Pimenta Cultural is a publishing company specialized in academic productions. We have a strong work for the impact of the published texts through indexers and metadata.

We publish: articles as book chapters, research group reports, texts from postgraduate discipline articles, monographs, dissertations, theses, postdoctoral reports, among other academic texts.

The intention is to leverage the academic texts of our authors, expanding the audience and citations of their works by other authors. These actions aim to increase the H-index and i10-index and, especially, to disseminate the reach of research.

That is why the distribution of our eBook is made for free and the book from Creative Commons licenses.

Its editors are Prof. Dr. Patricia Bieging and Prof. Dr. Raul Inácio Busarello. Both have extensive experience in publishing academic books in Brazil and abroad.

Most of our authors are masters and doctors from public and private universities. We have already published texts and complete works by more than 6,7000 authors and researchers from various universities in Brazil and abroad.

Digital books are published under the Creative Commons License (by-nc-nd) to increase sharing and access to works. The books are open access to the public and we distribute them for free on social networks, the Pimenta Cultural website, Google Book, Google Play, Academia.Edu, Open Library, Open Aire, Scribd, Zenodo among others. We also send them to more than 400 university libraries registered in our mailing list.

The eBooks have different typesetting and graphic design, and are not simply a PDF file. Digital book have metadata programming, indexing, and internal navigation links that facilitate access to chapters, as well as a table of contents and an index.

The printed book is adapted to the 14x21cm format. However, we work with any type of format, with the most common being: 16x23cm, 17x24cm, 21x28cm, 21.29.7cm, and 25x30cm.

We have several open calls for book chapters annually. If your research adheres to one of the open calls, you can submit your text for peer review.

After peer review, we will send you the evaluations from the reviewers with the notes. If adjustments are requested, authors will have a few days to make the corrections and send us the finalized text.

Once all authors return with the final texts, we begin the editing procedures and, as soon as the typesetting is ready, the authors receive the proof by email for final review. After all chapters are approved, the work moves on to finalization, registration, indexing, and effective publication.

We do not charge any advance fees before evaluation or without ensuring the feasibility of the work. The publication fee is only charged at the end of the entire process and with the book’s viability guaranteed. The publication fee is per chapter and not per author and can be divided into 2 installments on the bank slip without interest. If there is more than one author, they can divide the investment among themselves, which is unique.

The Index is generated by the publisher at the end of the work. You don’t have to do anything, we take care of it. This index is a list of the main terms that appear in your text. We track the main words and subsequently generate an automated list. Next to the word, the pages on which the term is cited by the author are listed. This index appears at the end of the work and is a way to facilitate readers’ research.

The PoD system allows books to be printed one by one from the moment of purchase and quickly. The greatest advantage for our authors is that the work is never out of circulation. The value of the work is similar to what is practiced in physical and online bookstores. The production time of the work varies up to 7 days from the order placed on our partner’s website. Both the author and the readers can purchase the work at any time from just one copy.

You can place an order by print-on-demand service. We print from a single copy using a direct link with our supplier, with sales through marketplaces, and print-on-demand.

We have qualified professionals trained in proofreading, editing, syntax, and ABNT standards for scientific texts. However, the author can revise the text themselves or by their peers.

Yes, the author is free to make any changes they desire to their text before submitting it to us for editing.

We work with metadata programming for all digital book, which are internal data of the work responsible for the better positioning of books in search systems.

The indexing of 100% open works on Google Books is essential and of great importance as it is one of the ways to count the publication indices of research authors.

With the insertion of data and work on Google Books, we can activate mechanisms for evaluating and counting citations and the “h” and “i10” indices. The H-index is an impact factor calculated according to the number of articles published by the researcher. Thus, “when we say that a researcher’s H-index is ten, it means that he has at least ten published articles, each with at least ten citations. The greater the number of highly cited articles published by the researcher, the higher the number of citations achieved, and the higher his H-index, reflecting the academic and scientific quality of the researcher and their productive capacity” (TOMAZ, ASSAD, MOREIRA, 2011, online).

The i10 index is an impact factor directly related to the H-index and shows the published articles that have more than 10 citations each.

Google Books measures the impact of works and automatically calculates the i10 and H-index in the researcher’s profile on Google Scholar. This index can be related to the Lattes Curriculum in a specific field for this purpose. It is important that the researcher has their profile on the platform so that the indices are computed correctly.

Google Books link to the book’s page, containing: Title, authors’ names, summary, keyword cloud (very important for the work to be found by search engines worldwide), ISBNs, citation export options for EndNote and others, QR Code: shorturl.at/jzGL6

1) Available at: https://www.scielo.br/scielo.php?pid=S0066-782X2011000200001&script=sci_arttext

2) Direct link to the book, which serves for sharing the work: shorturl.at/wDKR4

We have counted over 12,4 million views of our works only on the Google Books platforms. This metric refers only to views of the publisher’s distribution profile, and other distribution channels have not been added.

Our works are indexed in several confirmed universities, including FURB, PUC, Mackenzie University, among others. We also index in international libraries. A few years ago, Belgium’s largest public university started indexing our eBooks, the Ghent University. The university was founded in 1817 and is ranked among the best in the world, occupying the 71st place in the Academic Ranking of World Universities. shorturl.at/quDY9

Pimenta Cultural’s works are published in both digital and print formats. Therefore, two ISBNs (one for each format) are registered by the Brazilian Book Chamber. The work also has a cataloging record.

In our digital works, we use the Creative Commons License – Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International – CC BY-NC (CC BY-NC-ND) – which allows sharing and copying by anyone while safeguarding the author’s rights. Although Creative Commons Licenses permit the sharing and copying of works, the citation of excerpts and respect for authorship are protected by the Copyright Law (Law 9.610/98). In its Article 46, Section III, “quotation in books, newspapers, magazines or any other means of communication of passages from any work for the purposes of study, criticism or controversy to the extent justified by the end to be achieved, indicating the name of the author and the origin of the work” does not constitute a violation of copyright.

Yes, we are affiliated with Crossref and register DOIs for books and chapters, the latter in the case of organized works.

DOI stands for Digital Object Identifier, that is, an identifier for digital objects. It is a standard for identifying documents in digital networks. It is a registration for digital works. It is not possible to register DOI for printed books.

The printed books are also sold by catalog in 72 bookstores around Brazil.

All printed works sold are printed in the PoD system, and the author does not have to pay for these prints. In this way, the number of printed books requested by the author will go directly to the author, who will be able to sell or donate them in any way they wish, without passing on any commission to the publisher.

We do not work with printed books in stock, the prints are only made by PoD.

The fee of publishing a full book, whether organized or authored, will depend on several factors. It is ideal to contact us directly for an evaluation of the text.

We also have a Promotional Publication Fee Package, so that authors can analyze and check the items they want for the book. These Plans are basic and part of a standard procedure created by the publisher to facilitate access to authors and reduce the amount to be invested.

Check out our plans by clicking here.

We do not charge any upfront fees before evaluation or without being sure of the feasibility of the work. The publication fee is only paid at the end of the entire process and with the book’s viability guaranteed. The publication fee is per chapter, not per author, and can be divided into 2 interest-free installments on the bank slip. If there is more than one author, they can split the investment, which is unique.
